It’s funny how my wife and I dropped cable television from our home ten years ago to weed out propaganda seeping in for our kids’ mental health and our own sanity, yet I still seem to be so much more informed than my online political opponents. If I sound like I’m bragging, so be it. It’s true. So let’s examine why.
Even the most “high brow” of us must admit, that along with legacy news publications, we all get a good deal of political bias from even the comedic entertainment shows we take in. From Johnny Carson to Jon Stewart, to eventually the likes of Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, and SNL. The sad truth is, MOST Americans get the majority of their views from the entertainment shows over any serious publications, and honestly it doesnt matter as much as we would like to hope, because they’re all toeing the same line for the same owners, pushing the same ideology.
Whose “truth” are you consuming? Whose spin is keeping you dizzy? If you’re still getting the bulk of your information from legacy media (brought to you by Pfizer) on television (ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, Fox, CNN, etc.) you are being lied to on a regular basis and are probably very ill informed about what’s really going on (sponsored in part by Pfizer) in our country, let alone the world.
If this was not the case, I wouldn’t have to butt heads so frequently with people over basic facts which are common knowledge among those of us who cut the corporate cord, and be called a conspiracy theorist for bringing them up, even when I present credible citation. These folks, who are predominantly on the left I might add, are often completely in the dark about what I would consider some of the most pressing political issues of our time, and yet join online political forums to vent, and argue with those on the right. A few examples would be the Kyle Rittenhouse case, CRT (the tenets of CRT) being taught in K-12 schools, and a recent study showing democrats are the most deeply misinformed demographic about how likely hospitalization and death rates from Covid 19 are (surprise, they think it is much worse than reality due to fear mongering leftist media). The Rittenhouse incident happened over a year ago, video footage has been available the entire time, and a huge section of Americans are just now realizing Kyle was the one being chased by the criminal mob, and the three rioters he was forced to shoot in self-defense were white. CNN, MSNBC, and even Joe Biden were calling this kid a white supremacist out hunting innocent BLM “protestors.”
Luckily, I’m here to help, folks. You don’t have to be like Sarah Beth Burwick, or the others still buying what is being sold through the likes of corporate shills like Trevor Noah, Stephen Colbert, Seth Myers, Don Lemon, Jimmy Kimmel, Rachel Maddow, and hundreds of other soulless ghouls fattening you for the kill. I’ll give you the scoop on some of the best independent sources who created a free YouTube account and gained huge followings through being informative, genuine, and best of all, HONEST. Not beholden to a corporate master.
Ahead of the podcasters and YouTubers I would like to offer to those who still prefer to READ the news as well, a few of the best independent journalists writing for themselves here on Substack: Bari Weiss, Matt Taibbi, and Glenn Greenwald. All outstanding publications.
Tim Pool
I discovered Tim Pool on YouTube a few years ago on Joe Rogan’s podcast. Tim was taking Twitter execs to task on how and who they decide to censor and I liked him immediately. He’s a real American, and a legit journalist. He first came into the public light with his coverage of Occupy Wall Street in 2011, was an early reporter for Vice (pre-woke nonsense), and has traveled the world covering stories including US war efforts in the Middle East. He does a few solo shows a day on one of his YouTube channels, and another show including members of his usual crew and often a guest speaker in a round-table type discussion panel. He basically reviews all the daily news from various sources, and talks about the most news-worthy topics, reading from various sources and giving his take. At the end of the day he uploads the solo shows as one audio file to stream available on Spotify or wherever podcasts can be streamed (I listen on Spotify myself).
Tim self-describes as leaning left politically, but as he has become more of a staunch 2A advocate, and with the huge Overton window shifts as of late, anyone challenging main stream narratives is labeled as “alt right” or even “far right” by many on the left as you can see here in a hilariously, though disgustingly misrepresentation of Tim in a thumbnail of a search result among the top when I searched “Tim Pool.”
When you pose a threat and speak truth to power, it’s time for deplatforming.

Joe Rogan
Joe Rogan has the largest audience of any show on Earth for good reason, folks. It’s not because watching him gives you a contact high. Stimulating long form conversations (2 -3 hours usually) with some of the world’s most renowned intellectuals and innovators, historians, health experts, politicians, etc. mixed in with some goofball comedians having a good time and world class athletes at other times, is quite informative, and entertaining. Why listen to a 20 second news clip from NBC giving me a particular narrative about Elon Musk and his latest projects when I can listen to the man speak for himself, unedited, and without spin? Or Tulsi Gabbard for that matter, another fine person the mainstream news media/DNC tried to bury and make go away because she was gaining popularity but did not have the same war mongering corporate interests as those truly in control of our government.
Rogan began his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience in 2009 on YouTube just goofing around and getting high with his comedian buddies. Nobody knew what a behemoth it would become. Some of the most thought provoking long-form, unedited interviews ever heard and witnessed by audiences have come out of this show. With 11.3 million subscribers on YouTube, it became the most popular podcast, or show of any kind, in the world.
They say a college education adds about 15 IQ points on average. Well, listening to hours long conversations with Neil Degrasse Tyson, Jordan Peterson, and Bret Weinstein types certainly doesn’t hurt the ol’ knowledge base and you don’t have to pay tuition. Those of us watching for many years have certainly seen the effect on Joe himself and watched him grow intellectually. I’m glad he can still catch a buzz and relax, and be a cut-up when his comic friends are on, though. It’s one of the endearing things about Joe himself but also the show.
The Joe Rogan Experience has moved exclusively to Spotify after signing Rogan to a reported 100 million dollar deal, and sadly, the full episodes are no longer available on YouTube, but fans can watch and or listen on Spotify. He does still upload clips to the YouTube account.
Watch or listen to The Joe Rogan Experience on Spotify. Check out clips from recent shows on YouTube.
Steven Crowder
Love him or hate him, Steven Crowder has a strong following of based patriots because he has truly earned their trust and respect. This isn’t Colbert, but from time to time Colbert’s “40 writers” (according to Crowder) give Colbert bits strangely similar to Crowder’s after the latter airs on YouTube. He’s a self-described libertarian but definitely also conservative (there are left leaning “libertarians”) so the arrow is appropriate here.
Accompanied by a few studio regulars like “Quarter Black Garrett”, “Half-Asian lawyer Bill” (the show enjoys overtly clowning the left’s identity politics) and recent addition, the hilarious comedian Dave Landau, Steven does a regular show called Louder With Crowder about politics, with edgy (some say controversial) comedy bits, and from time to time holds his epic “Change My Mind” segments where he sets up a table on the street, usually in front of a college, to have a discussion (debate) on a hot political topic with anyone (usually college students, and once or twice an actual professor has sat down to end up getting schooled) who will have a seat. From gun laws, to rape culture, to affirmative action, to climate claims, nothing is off limits for discussion on the show.
Crowder is consistently in a war with the corporate automatons at YouTube and is regularly having his videos demonetized, deleted, and Steven himself is often being suspended by the media giant. Hopefully he is able to stick around for the long haul but unfortunately, conservatives are being pushed to other, less popular platforms due to speaking against the corporate/DNC narrative, and if you don’t think those two powers are an allegiance, you are who needs this information. No judgment. I’m happy to help.

Jimmy Dore
Jimmy Dore hosts a very popular show with very contrasting takes to the others on this list. Jimmy is a comedian and politically a socialist.
I’ve only discovered Dore’s show a few months ago but have seen enough to say, though I adamantly disagree with his politics and his ideas about which directions we should move economically as a nation, Jimmy is a man of integrity, speaking truth to power and calling out the lying zealots on both the left and the right, and that makes him worth paying some attention. He has a few left wing guests that will make a tidy righty cringe a bit but hey, I gave you Crowder who does that to the left so here’s a counter. If you’re on the left or vote democrat this is a guy you should tune in to from time to time to escape the corporate bubble of the main stream. While I despise both main political parties in general, more so the left and will likely never vote for a democrat again, I still like Jimmy and tune in from time to time.
His channel, The Jimmy Dore Show, can be found here.
Matt Walsh
A member of Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire cast, Matt Walsh is my favorite DW guy. His cheeky sarcasm accompanied by strong moral fiber and down-to-Earth sensibility makes him a mainstay in my YouTube rotation.
Matt is a patriot, and a fighter for all that is good and righteous. One of my favorite videos from Matt Walsh is him confronting a school board over mask mandates in his home state of Virginia, where CRT racism and masking children have been a major topic of concern over the last year. Here is that video.

Russell Brand
You probably know Russell Brand from movies or even as a stand-up comic but Russell is becoming quite a strong political force as well. Adored by the ladies, respected by men, and captivating to mixed audiences with his quick wit humor and political sensibility, Brand has a fairly new YouTube channel with an already staggering subscriber base of well over 4 million.
Like every other person on this list, Russell refuses to lie for money. He speaks his mind, tells the truth as far as he knows it to be, and reads the standout news stories giving an intelligent perspective about the source, the story, and what is really going on beneath the surface. For these reasons I can give him my ear, recommend him to others, and even forgive him for being such a “Lefty Lucy.”
You can check out his channel here.
Breaking Points
Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti used to be the powerful liberal (Krystal) / conservative (Saagar) duo hosting The Hill on YouTube, but started their own channel due to corporate influence from The Hill pushing narratives of which they refused to be a part.
If you prefer more of a traditional news anchor than smart aleck comic, this may be your show. Daily releases of topical news pieces with a counter balance duo of political perspectives.
Check out their channel here.
Salty Cracker
My final recommendation may show bias and throw shade on the rest of the list but hear me out. Salty Cracker isn’t quite as diplomatic in his views as the others on the list. He drops daily videos about the news topics but with a ton of hyperbole and vitriol for as he says, “those on the left-hand side.”
This guy is the most aptly named YouTuber ever- an angry white guy fed up with the racist woke-ism plaguing our society and if you’re on the left; you’re almost certainly not going to jibe with him. Personally, I find him quite humorous and likeable. I get a kick out of his ability to do it regularly and unscripted. A natural hater, his video thumbnails themselves often become viral memes clowning the left.

In closing, let me be clear, being on YouTube does not always mean free of corporate sponsorship. The Young Turks for example, are malignant, lying minions of the corporate left funded by billionaires including George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. Every mainstream news outlet also has a YouTube channel. But becoming a regular user of YouTube (until something better replaces this evermore suppressive giant) and podcast apps such as Spotify and taking in a healthy diet of independents along with whatever small doses of corporate news feeds (which will populate your YouTube feed automatically) you still wish to consume, I’m just saying stay well rounded. If you’re not already a big YouTube user, you’re already years behind. It’s free. What do you have to lose?
